Who are Red Star Research?
Red Star Research is a collective of political activists and researchers who work together on this website project. Otherwise we are all active in a variety of different groups and causes. Some of us work as journalists or researchers, some of us don't. As a project we aren't affiliated to, or part of, any political organisation. We've been investigating the Labour Party's finances and links with Big Business since 1996.
Why is some of the site out-of-date?
We stopped updating the site in about 2003, after the Electoral Commission began to report donations. Although there is still plenty of dirt to dig up on the Labour Party and its spooks, flunkies and hangers-on, we have moved on to other activities, including RPM. Other activists have continued to publicise the inconvenient facts, and good luck to them.
For details of current donations you can find the Register of Donations to Political Parties at their website: http://www.electoralcommission.gov.uk. Before this register was started we were the only place you could find out this information about the Labour Party, and our list of donations from before 2001 remains the only complete picture of Labour Party funding during this period.
Are you funded by a political Party?
No, we are entirely independent. We are funded by donations from individuals and by RPM, a radical publishing project. If you would like to send us some money, please send it to Red Star Research, BCM Box 3328, London WC1N 3XX. Cheques should be made out to "Red Star Research".
Where do you get your information from?
From publicly available sources, accounts and records. From obscure parliamentary places that the public aren't supposed to find. And from people within the New Labour Project who know it stinks.
Why do you pick on the Labour Party?
We're anti-Capitalists. The Labour Party is a Capitalist Party. There are plenty of websites that attack the Tories, but when we started there was nowhere that you could find out information about what the Labour Party was up to. Don't get us wrong - we hate the Labour Party, but we hate the Tories even more! If you were directed here by some adolescent Fascist link page, then its time to clamber back under your rock, scumbag. The only good Fascist is a dead Fascist.
How should political Parties be funded then?
By individual subscription. Not by trade unionists handing over their political levies to the union bosses, or by fat cats handing out the profit we make to earn favours for themselves. We certainly don't support State-funding of political Parties - Party propaganda paid for by taxes? What an insane idea.
Why do I keep getting sent back to the index page?
This site was originally intended to work as a narrative, which you worked your way through to get an overall picture of the Labour Party. As such, it will always take you back to the start of each section if you hit on an individual page here from an external Search Engine. To find the individual page you want use our new search engine.
